Martin has a background of 30 years as CAMHS clinician working co-located collaboratively and dynamically with most agencies that support children and families. He is extensively qualified Martin Smithas an RMN, ENB998, PG Teaching in Higher Education, PG Dual Diagnosis (complexity), PG Social Research Methods, MSc.
His clinical practice is in Youth justice and CAMHS. Martin’s experience as a Senior lecturer and previous and current clinical experience, with his academic background at the Tavistock Clinic and Middlesex University empowers him to deliver robust evidenced based trainings linking theory practice and policy.
Martin’s experiences include setting up the cross discipline and agency Postgraduate CAMHS programmes at the Middlesex University. He also taught the preregistered Social Work Life Span Development programme and the Post Registered Dual Diagnosis.
He has a substantial portfolio of publications and has written for young minds, Community Care, as well as an international reputation in publishing research, teaching and Policy.
Martin whilst at the Middlesex University, worked collaboratively with other European university’s on the international Camille Project . He cooperated with Public Health England document on the advisory Document, The Role of Nurses in Alcohol and Drug Treatment Services - A resource for commissioners, providers and clinicians.
Martins pedagogic interests are complexity in mental health / substance misuse and parental mental health. He delivers CPD courses for the NHS and the Tavistock Clinic and the Høgskulen på Vestlandet(Norway). Those courses include CAMHS Triage, CAMHS Advanced Clinical Risk, Recovery Approach (Young People and Adults) Dual Diagnosis and Impact of Parental Mental Health on Children.
